On behalf of the Justice Committee, please see the following statement:
As a body of believers of Christ, we are mourning for the lives lost at the hands of others because of the color of their skin. We cry out together with them: How long, O Lord must the men, women and children of color be oppressed in America by racial prejudice? We ask God to give us the ability to respond to the oppressed and the oppressors with His righteousness. We place our hope in a God who sees the oppressed and will hear their cries and deal bountifully with them. He hears the cries of the weary saying “Enough is enough.”
How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken. But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
